Points Samsung Gear Blink will be presented in March 2015
By focusing on Tizen, Samsung reduces dependence on Google and its Android operating system. In the near future, the Tizen platform can form the basis of a similar Google Glass headset . It is reported that in the first quarter of 2015, Samsung will introduce its own glasses of augmented reality, the so-called Gear Blink.
As the resource SamMobile referring to industry sources, the headset Samsung Gear Blink (previously unknowingly many called her Gear Glass) will be presented in March next year. Approximately at the same time, the next Samsung flagship is expected to be shown – the Galaxy S6 smartphone.
Judging by the published images, one of the main features of Gear Blink will be the projection of the virtual keyboard on the palm of the user, which will allow typing text directly in the air.
Before that, there were rumors that Samsung’s augmented reality glasses could be presented during the recent IFA exhibition in Berlin. But, as you can see, this did not happen. During the Unpacked 2014 event, the company showed only the Galaxy Note 4 smartphone, its Galaxy Note Edge version with a curved display and the Gear VR headset, similar to the Oculus Rift helmet using virtual reality.
Unlike Gear VR virtual reality glasses, where Note 4 plays the role of the display, Gear Blink’s Augmented Reality glasses should be a stand-alone device. Given that for the near future Samsung does not plan any activities, the March deadline looks believable.
There is practically no information on the specifications of Gear Blink. As noted above, the new glasses will be running the Tizen operating system, which can already be found in some wearable Samsung devices, for example, in the Gear S smart watch .
