Xiaomi Poco F1 smartphone now available via open sale

Xiaomi’s debut phone for the Indian premium smartphone market — Poco F1 — was launched in the country on August 22.

Following its usual model, Xiaomi made the handset available via flash sales since the launch starting with the first sale being held a week after the launch on August 29.

The handset is not even a month old and now the company has made the device available via open sale on both its official website Mi.com and domestic e-commerce market platform Flipkart.

Readers must note that currently, the open sale is only for the 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage variant that costs Rs 23,999. The company has said that moving forward, other variants of the handset will also be made available via flash sale soon, including the Armoured Edition as well.

The Poco F1 is available in three colour variants — Graphite Black, Steel Blue and Rosso Red. There is also a special edition of the handset featuring Kevlar Aramid fibre back that is said to be scratch resistant and is made of the same material as the bulletproof life jackets. The handset is available in three storage variants. The base variant that offers 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage that costs Rs 20,999, the 6GB+128GB costs Rs 23,999 and the 8GB and 256GB internal storage variant is priced at Rs 28,999.

The Poco F1 has a polycarbonate unibody design and sports a 6.18-inch screen of FHD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels) with a notch on display which makes it aspect ratio 19:9. It is powered by a Qualcomm’s 2.8Ghz 10nn FinFet Snapdragon 845 processor with Adreno 630 GPU.
It runs on MIUI for Poco which is Xiaomi’s native custom UI with a Poco launcher — based on Android 8.1 Oreo — featuring an App drawer and customizations. Backed by a 4,000mAh battery, it has a claimed 8 hours of gaming, 30 hours of talk time and 15 days of stand-by time with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
For imaging duties, the Xiaomi Poco F1 offers a selfie camera of 20-megapixel sensor with beautification feature. On the back, the dual camera setup boasts of Artificial Intelligence-support featuring 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor offering Dual Pixel Autofocus feature and real-time AI photography. The cameras are said to be able to recognize up to 206 scenes to capture better results.
