Here’s what Blizzard Entertainment said about Warcraft 4
American game developer Blizzard Entertainment has over the years produced some hit gaming franchises like Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo and Overwatch. If we talk about the Warcraft series that portrayed the conflict between humans and orcs after the orcs are transported to the realm of humans, the story arc of Prince Arthas of Lordaeron in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos first shocked and then ended up hooking the players to the game. Blizzard’s Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its sequel Frozen Throne paved the way for the multiplayer online battle arena mod called Defense of the Ancients or DotA in popular parlance that went on to become a roaring success.
Despite the success of DotA, many are still there who want Blizzard to continue the Warcraft series. The company hasn’t totally ignored the series as we saw it announcing Warcraft III: Reforged at its annual convention Blizzcon 2018. Warcraft III: Reforged is a remastered version of Warcraft III.
What Blizzard said
According to Blizzard senior producer Pete Stilwell, the company has no current plans for Warcraft IV. But that doesn’t mean that a sequel has been totally ruled out.
“I mean, I wouldn’t rule anything out, but we don’t have any plans around [Warcraft IV] at this point. Getting [Warcraft III: Reforged] right, I think, is our priority first and foremost,” said Stilwell in an interview with GameSpot.
For fans of the series, there is still Warcraft III: Reforged. The new version of 2002’s Warcraft III will come with remodeled characters and remastered maps and campaigns. With upgraded UI and world editor, Reforged will be having 4K support. It will have the Battle.net functionality for creating custom game lobbies and some balance changes too. The game drops in 2019.
