Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp suffer biggest ever downtime: 10 things to know
World’s biggest social network – and its associated platforms – Facebook last suffered its most severe outage in its history. The social network, along with Instagram and WhatsApp, was down for close to 14 hours in several parts of the world. While the cause of the outage hasn’t been made public yet, we take a look at how widespread the problem was and who all were affected:

The first few cases of Facebook being down was reported around 9.30 pm (IST)

The message “Facebook Will Be Back Soon” was users encountered when they tried to login to their accounts.

At that time Facebook noted on its homepage, “Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes”

Not just Facebook but Instagram too was reportedly down for several hours.

On Facebook, there were users who were able to login but couldn’t post status updates, pictures or see updated News Feed.

Even on Instagram, users were able to login but couldn’t see refreshed feed.

Instagram took to Twitter to clarify about the outage
Instagram posted on Twitter, “We’re aware of an issue impacting people’s access to Instagram right now. We know this is frustrating, and our team is hard at work to resolve this ASAP.”

Instagram was ‘officially back’ at around 10am today as it posted on Twitter, “Andddd…we are back” with a celebratory gif.

In some parts of the world, WhatsApp was also reportedly down and users complained about not able to send/receive messages
