STPI Plans to Set Up 28 CoEs to Promote Emerging Technologies
The planned CoEs by STPI will work in partnership with academia, state governments and industry in order to offer a platform for budding entrepreneurs and start-ups across the country
Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), a society under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India, announced that it has planned to set up 28 Centres of Excellence (CoE) all over the country.
The centres will be focused on emerging technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), cloud, blockchain and others.
Platform for start-ups
The planned CoEs will work in partnership with the stakeholders, academia, state governments and industry in order to offer a platform for budding entrepreneurs and start-ups across the country.
Recently, STPI signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with USA-based Fab Foundation for creating the Fab Lab in Bhubaneswar, in the state of Orissa.
STPI has also set up IoT OpenLab at Bengaluru, FinTech at Chennai and Electropreneur Park ESDM Incubation Centre at Bhubaneshwar.
Specialised incubation facility
In August 2018, the society launched a new incubation centre and a Fab-Lab named ‘STPI ELITE’ for IT and electronics start-ups in the state of Orissa, situated at Gothapatna in Bhubaneswar.
According to STPI, a CoE is a domain-specific and specialised incubation facility designed for start-ups in the field of emerging technologies where the best-practices and highest-standards in terms of technology, infrastructure, leadership, training, mentoring, research & development (R&D), networking and funding, for the given focus field is made available.
