Every year, Huawei is investing US$ 300 million for funding academic research in basic science and technologies and technological innovation

The wide adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) is accelerating cloud implementation in the enterprises, according to a senior Huawei official.

“The intelligent world is already here. We can touch it. The ICT industry is currently facing unprecedented development opportunities,” said Ken Hu, Deputy Chairman, Huawei, while speaking at an event.

Hu explained that the company considers cloud competition to be actually AI competition as part of its larger market position.

“With our strategic investment in AI, we are confident that we will lead in the race in the new cloud track,” he added.

5G is being deployed at a much faster rate than expected, and the development of 5G device is matching the development of 5G network for the first time in history.

The world will have 2.8 billion 5G users by 2025, according to the forecasts by Huawei.

Developing intelligent and powerful networks

In order to support these huge numbers of users, the company is aimed at developing simple, intelligent and powerful networks, to continuously generate value for its customers.

As more devices and applications become available, the digital consumer experience is becoming fragmented. The company has already taken measures to provide customers the seamless and intelligent digital experience they want across all circumstances. All of these services majorly enable service search, Hu explained.

“Huawei’s ultimate aim is to bring the benefits of a fully connected, intelligent world to more people, organisations and homes,” he added.

Speaking at the event, William Xu, Director of the Board and President of the Institute of Strategic Research of Huawei, announced that Huawei is moving into the era of Innovation 2.0, which is all about vision-driven theoretical breakthroughs and inventions.

“The Institute of Strategic Research will be mainly engaged in research into cutting-edge technologies for the next five or more years,” said Xu.

Every year, Huawei is investing US$ 300 million for funding academic research in basic science and technologies and technological innovation.

Xu noted that Huawei will work with research institutes and universities to drive innovation in theories and basic technologies and light the way for industry as well as the world at large.
