GeoTraq to Introduce New Class of Mobile IoT Modules for Asset Tracking
Developed with a self-contained form factor, the new modules eradicate the hassle and cost of developing and building a PCB for mounting
GeoTraq Inc., a leading provider of connected Internet of Things (IoT) modules, announced it is developing a new class of mobile IoT modules that are transitioned from GSM to LTE-M/NB-IoT connectivity.
GeoTraq is creating a tracker-module for location-based services and asset tracking, in addition to a sensor-module for remote monitoring solutions. The latest ultra-small mobile IoT modules will radically transform the way businesses track assets and communicate data worldwide, the company said in a statement.
The new mobile IoT modules will provide several of the similar features as the original GSM module of the company. Some of the features include long battery life, low power, small size and global connectivity. Developed with a self-contained form factor, the new modules eradicate the hassle and cost of developing and building a printed circuit board (PCB) for mounting. These modules are plug-n-play for simple attachment of antenna, battery and required sensors.
Commenting on the development, Pierre Parent, General Manager, GeoTraq, said, “Our niche in the IoT/ M2M industries is focused on simple IoT. Our modules enhance the capabilities of existing technology by driving innovation in our products.”
The company is using Sequans Monarch system-in-package (SiP), a highly-optimised LTE-M/NB-IoT chip of Sequans integrated with universal radio front end of Skyworks. Monarch SiP incorporates PoLTE technology for precise indoor and outdoor positioning capability, utilising only LTE radio. There is no need of GPS or GNSS. Engineered to augment the power saving mode capabilities and extended discontinuous reception (eDRX), GeoTraq enables the long battery life required by several IoT use cases.
The Mobile IoT refers to the low power wide area (LPWA) managed IoT network in the licensed spectrum.
